UCLA and Ohio State men's volleyball have cemented themselves into the record books. After a staggering 58-minute second set — which included 17 set points — UCLA finally broke through, winning the set 48-46.
The 94 combined points broke the previous NCAA men's volleyball record of 88 points in a set from 2021 in a match between BYU and Grand Canyon.
For more context, they didn't just break the NCAA men's volleyball record, but all of NCAA volleyball. The women's volleyball record for points in a set is 90, a mark reached twice. Once in a match between Santa Clara and Saint Mary's and once between Washington and Washington State.
Ohio State had multiple chances to close out the set, leading 24-23 at one point, and holding the first five set points. However, UCLA continued to be resilient and went on to seal the record-breaking set with an ace from Andrew Rowan. ;
