The Georgia catcher just won the SEC regular season Triple Crown, leading the conference in batting average, home runs and RBIs. It’s only happened two times before in SEC history, making it a rare feat.

The two before him were Brent Rooker in 2017 and Rafael Palmeiro in 1984, both out of Mississippi State.

Jackson led the conference during the regular season with a .394 batting average, 27 home runs and 77 RBI

But somehow, that might not even be the craziest stat.

Daniel Jackson became just the sixth player in Division I baseball history to hit 25 home runs and steal 25 bases in the same season.

Twenty-five bombs and 25 steals. It's not usual to see power hitters stealing that many bases, especially as a catcher.

If you told someone a player had 25 home runs and 25 stolen bases, catcher would probably be the last position they’d guess. That’s what makes Daniel Jackson’s season so impressive. Catchers are responsible for managing the pitching staff, calling games, controlling the running game, and enduring the wear and tear of one of the toughest positions in sports. To carry all of that and still produce elite offensive numbers with both power and speed is incredibly rare.

Something college baseball has never seen.

Then add SEC Player of the Year to the list.

So yes, Daniel Jackson’s season wasn’t just great. It was historic
